New Business / Operations Director

Position: New Business/Operations Director
Reports to: VP Account Services and Managing Director, Montreal
Location: Montreal

We currently have an opportunity for an New Business/Operations Director to support the Montreal office in new business development and operational management to support expansion efforts. This would involve solidifying new client relationships that align to the business strategy, strategic client account, brand and relationship management, and supporting the VP and Managing Director in providing leadership and direction to Montreal staff.

Key Accountabilities:

•Conducts proactive new business development with clients/therapeutic areas currently not serviced. This includes: identifying and evaluating opportunities, properly qualifying prospects, developing and presenting winning proposals. Responds to Requests For Proposals (RFPs), negotiates and organizes Company resources to justify investment in The Company’s services, and appropriately service the account.

•Works closely with VP and Managing Director to manage day-to-day operations in the Montreal office including: the ongoing calibration and communication of business strategy, business policies and other corporate initiatives; leading and directing internal meetings; and hiring key account staff members.

•Directs, assists and participates in the development of strategic plans, marketing plans, business reviews, business building programs, positioning documents and creative and business support materials.

•Mentors Account Directors and staff in respect to delivering consistent value on accounts. This includes providing ongoing assistance and coaching to senior staff on account initiatives and trouble-shooting as necessary.

•Manages direct reports, sometimes across one or more account teams, including recruiting staff; defining roles and responsibilities; managing staff priorities; managing performance (establishing goals, measuring progress and providing feedback

•Helps create and build a sales culture that reinforces the Company's value proposition, client service, participation, commitment and team spirit. Provides leadership to teams by setting a professional example and demonstrating a high level of work ethic.


Required Experience / Skills / Competencies:

•Graduate of a relevant post secondary degree or certificate program
•Strong working knowledge of the industry gained through 8+ years in Marketing Agency or Pharmaceutical Industry
•Strategic thinker able to successfully implement detailed plans
•Creative problem solver, able to react quickly and multi task; flexible, able to turn on a dime
•Able to negotiate successfully and sell ideas and concepts
•Excellent oral, written communication and editing and presentation skills
•Able to effectively manage teams of professionals (5 or more); proven coaching and mentoring skills
•Strong networking skills (i.e. develop new opportunities, move clients through pipeline)
•Enthusiastic and willing to expand on responsibilities and professional abilities
•Willingness to provide new ideas and processes to assist in the company’s efficiency and growth
•Willing to travel as required in response to client demands ( approx. 10-20%)
